I just wanted to express my gratitude for help at a very dark time for me. I felt apprehension related to seeking help paying my rent. I felt shame and believed I would be judged as less than who I believed I am. To my surprise from the moment I came into your office I was well greeted and shown compassion with reassurance that I mattered. My problem was one you wanted to help me resolve. Thanks to you and all involved I am now able to maintain my self-respect and I owe that to the kind people of you organization. I give thanks to God that you, and your organization, are there for we who struggle during these hard times.
I am a single mother of 4. I was recently laid off from a job I had as a human resource manager that lasted for 3 years. My unemployment lasted a total of 4 months. Thank God I was able to get a job this September. At the same time my ex-husband decided to take the summer off from paying child support, which left me in a bind with my children’s school supplies. I had to pinch off of my rent to afford supplies. I then received an eviction letter but CAPS stepped in and saved us. The assistance we received gave us the time we needed to stop the eviction process and I was able to find a new place for us to live within my new budget.
